Socially Distant Sports

If you are someone who loves sports and is willing to try new ones or some that you may not play too often then here are some options to keep you competing while being safe and socially distanced.

Golf

Most golf courses have remained open during quarantine and golf is a great outlet to compete or just enjoy while being safe. It is outdoors, very spaced out from any other players, and you can socially distance from those who are playing with you. If you choose to walk, then it is a great exercise and a good amount of time outside. Also, frisbee golf falls under this category and is a great option for similar reasons. It is also something that could be picked up a little more easily than golf while still having the same competition aspects as golf.

Tennis

Playing tennis keeps you distanced from your opponent and can also be played outside. It is a little harder to socialize, but it is an easier sport for anyone to be able to pick up and learn quickly. If you are nervous about touching the same ball, wearing gloves can be a good precaution and an easy fix to that solution. The biggest thing is to avoid touching your face while playing, so maybe bring a towel to be safe.

Water Sports

Water sports may be one of the less accessible options, but whether it is on the lake with a boat skiing or wakeboarding, on a river kayaking, in the ocean surfing, or fishing, there are many different outlets to be able to have a sense of competition as well as recreation.

We hope to be able to play all sports as soon as it is safe to do so, but until that time these are a few sports for those that are looking to be cautious and competitive.
